Vision Ease Lenses Corporate Sustainability Program

 A couple of months ago, Vision-Ease Lensemployees got involved in sewing up clothes for a program called Little Dresses For Africa, in which the employees donated materials to make dresses and send to orphanages in Central Africa.

In keeping with their tradition to be a good corporate citizens, Vision-Ease Lens (VEL), manufacturer of ophthalmic lenses and their employees recently volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. Over the course of five days, VEL employees spent time framing, insulating and cleaning a home in nearby North Minneapolis.

“Positively impacting the community we live and work in is something Vision-Ease and its employees hold as a priority, and we are honored to work with Habitat for Humanity” said John Oyen, director of human resources, VEL. “Our employees completed a lot of work in five days, and we’re thrilled to support their efforts.”

 In addition to hands-on work, VEL made a substantial cash donation, and provided catered lunches and refreshments for those assisting with the project throughout the week. Vision-Ease employees helped Habitat for Humanity work toward its goal of building homes in partnership with families who demonstrate a need and willingness to help construct their own housing.

The project in North Minneapolis is set to be finished in January 2011.
