La. Sinkhole: 3000 Feet Foamy Bubbles 50 Miles Away

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Save Lake Peigneur Inc. members have told Deborah Dupré that foamy bubbles (above) atop the lake have been reported to Louisiana’s Department of Natural Resources for years, repeatedly all but dismissed until this week. Photo credit: Save Lake Peigneur

Sheriffs have asked motorists to stay away from Lake Peigneur where Saturday it was reported that lines of foamy bubbles stretch up to 3000 feet long and up to 20 feet wide atop the lake 50 miles from Assumption Parish’s giant bubbling “sinkhole” area, now covered with crude oil seeping further into the swampland communties.

“Long straight white lines that are anywhere from 15 feet to 3000 feet long and one foot to 20 feet wide that remain in the same spot for hours,” Nara Crowley stated in an email Saturday morning.

“A boat can go over the foam/froth and immediately following the boats crossing the line will return.  Sometimes we see one gigantic bubble that turns into a frothy foam,” Crowley wrote. “Foam comes from bubbling.”

Further describing the latest Lake Peigneur incident, Crowley said, “This looks like a pot of spaghetti water boiling over, foamy” compared to swamp methane bubbling that looks like boiling water.

Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office have asked motorists to stay clear of the Lake Peigneur area until the state’s DNR and Department of Environmental Quality assess the bubbling.

For years, Crowley, president of Save Lake Peigneur Inc. and her group have asked Louisiana DNR and other officials to investigate odd bubbling on the lake, and also for an Environmental Impact Statement about proposed expansion of the salt dome facility in the lake.

Crowley and her group have asked AGL Resources to stop the process of expanding their salt dome caverns in the lake until a federal standard EIS is completed.

“Minimizing what is happening in Lake Peigneur is unconscionable,” Crowley said.

Thursday, in their battle to save Lake Peigneur, Crowley’s group experienced a hard-earned victory: Louisiana’s DNR sent field agents to investigate the bubbling at Lake Peigneur, where natural gas is stored in massive underground caverns in its large salt dome.

“We found foaming residue on the top,” said DNR spokesman Patrick Courreges, who added that the foam “is the result of something happening,” reports the Advocate.

The bubbling atop Lake Peigneur started eight years ago, in the 2005, according to Crowley and her group, who have been reporting it to state officials since then.

Courreges said it is too early to speculate what might be causing the bubbling.

Battle over more drilling, salt dome storage caverns, arsenic contaminating 15-parish aquifer

Residents gathered Wednesday night at a public hearing in New Iberia about the state permitting AGL Resources to expand its salt dome under Lake Peigneur with more caverns.

Jim Brugh, regional manager of Louisiana Water Company, LAWCO, said the company knows of the arsenic plume within the Chicot aquifer east of the company’s wells in New Iberia.

“The company only recently developed a new well field west of the plume that it estimated the arsenic wouldn’t reach for 50 years,” the Daily Iberian reported. With accelerated draw down from AGL Resources, however, Brugh said Wednesday night that they could not be so sure.

“We’re very, very concerned the plume will contaminate the wells,” Brugh said.

Chicot aquifer is the only fresh water source for 15 parishes.

At Wednesday night’s hearing, State Sen. Fred Mills, R-Parks questioned the need of caverns versus impact on coastal resources.

Natural gas storage is 16 percent higher than the five-year average while, “our coastal resources are among the most valued in the nation, yet the fastest disappearing on the planet,” Mills said.

“While the company [AGL) continues to disregard these unusual events in the lake and claim they are blameless, the fact is we don't know what is causing this phenomenon," Crowley said Saturday. "What should be paramount to this [company] are the consequences of the catastrophe that will likely occur as a result of their negligence and apathy.”

Mills asserted to officials Wednesday evening, “Protect the lake. She has suffered enough.”

So has all of oil-cursed south Louisiana, from its Gulf coast that still suffers from BP’s Gulf oil crime up to Assumption Parish battling an uncontrollable oil and gas industry salt dome collapse where the historic giant sinkhole has been expanding for six months.

The latest Assumption Parish flyover of the “sinkhole” shows an alarming expansion after heavy rains have innundated south Louisiana. Such rising water is typical of the area in spring and is expected to continue, possibly joining the “sinkhole” with Bayou Corne and Grand Bayou, both of which feed into Lake Verret in the lower Atchafalaya Basin near Thibodaux and adjoining Pierre Part in Assumption Parish between Hwys 70, 1010, 1, and 398.

Recent photos show the nearly 9-acre “sinkhole” completely covered with crude oil, according to ENENEWS.

The crude and gas bubbling there are leaking from unknown sources, according to officials, who have had scientists investigating there since early August when the “sinkhole” was discovered.

Is there a link between the two bubbling sites or not?

      • Mark Brander

The bubbling in the bayou and the sinkhole is methane gas that is being liberated from the huge deposit of methane hydrates beneath the Gulf. The enormous deposit of methane hydrates is being melted and turned into gas at a ratio of 160 to 1. The high temperature and high pressure crude from the BP deep well fiasco has been melting the solid methane deposit for the last two years and it is migrating throughout the Gulf States causing tremors and booms. It is not going away, the situation will escalate. People need to move.

Yes Mark right on ,the otherwise frozen Methane which is found solid at great depth in the oceans around the world specially in the arctic is heated and turning into gas.
Now we know that HAARP has the capacity to heat up a certain area ,one has to come to a conclusion why are both the arctic and the Gulf simultaneously releasing the Methane?
In the Arctic it can’t be global warming for the gas to bubble up through the Ice.
You know what a diathermy machine does? It penetrates RF and heats up the bones and muscles to speed up healing. Now take that a step further and multiply that power by millions of watts. We all know of the rich mineral deposits and oil in the arctic and the necessity to keep the northwest passage open. Haarp can do that and also induce Earthquakes. Read up on Tesla and Eastlund.
The Military would not be interested to obtain Patents for such a device if it was for peaceful; purposes, the acquired the Rights from Eastlund.

        • Joerg Klaemt

To add to my Comments is that you need heat to extract oil from shale deposits ,it would also create more pressure in and existing oil Deposit via heating which would also melt the methane
Food for Thought. Kill Haarp we don’t need it.

Someone needs to take the initiative and drill through the water too a connected salt dome when we have a strong north wind. It will collapse rapidly this way but in a more controlled manor. As it sits now there is the potential for a massive explosion from the leaking gas. I hate long waits and this method should be fairly rapid and then everyone can just go back to thier normal routines. It won’t stop until every grain of salt has been dissolved into the ocean. We can’t make it worse but we can try to control the damage by this method.

        Well,shoot-
that’s what they did in this same Lake years back…
        of course,
        that was not the intention!

It ate the rig,a barge,a tug boat and the mine, rig&boat crews barely escaped.

        Oh,yeah…
        it drank up the Lake,too!

        “Top men” are in charge,
        so don’t worry!

        Really,people-
how stupid do you have be to drill a rig into a known mine?

        “Call before you dig”,right?

        BP again,as I understand.

Who gave these monsters permission to use the empty salt domes as storage for these chemicals? They need to be put in prison and those compnies need to empty ALL of those chemicals NOW! This is the very reason they have been creating the false flags to remove humans from that region! We should make all those monsters live right on the shoreline if its so safe like they say! GREED, GREED, GREED!

      • Deborah Dupre

Who? Our greedy politician-appointed officials gave permission for these atrocities.

        Research:
        “Broken Arrow” missing missiles,
“The Missile from Hell”(AKA S.L.A.M.,or Project Pluto)
        AND
        Project Dribble:

“We all know that the US government did nuclear testing in the Southwest and in the Pacific…
but did you know they did nuclear tests in Mississippi?

        Well guess what… IT HAPPENED!

The two nuclear blasts that took place in Hattiesburg Mississippi were detonated in 1964 to test the effects of a nuclear explosion within solid salt.

The first bomb test was called Project Salmon which succeeded in creating a blast so enormous the earth literally heaved and became fluid like with witnesses describing it like looking at waves in the ocean.

        Moreover,
Mississippi was chosen for the blasts with no concern for the people it would effect as the effects of nuclear radiation were already well known.

The real question is why Mississippi when there were suitable places in the southwest where no one lived and the answer seems to be that the state was impoverished and the US government want to see the effects of a nuclear blast underground on a living population and a “green” as opposed to a Desert environment.

Around 400 people were removed from the area before the blast and given $10 for each adult and $5 per child for the “inconvenience” of the relocation until the test was over.

Damage was extensive to homes and property.

        Up to 30 miles away,
the blast shock waves could be felt and while the government was quick to pay for the damages…
they did not relocate the people.

When reporters questioned those living in the area,
they all stated that they opposed the nuclear test but that the government had left them no choice in the matter…
        in fact,
most people outside the blast zone didn’t even know about the test and afterwards,
the media largely concealed or refused to cover the story.

        This was, after all,
a time when the mass media was much like it still is today
        with the mainstream media-
except for those journalists actually brave enough to do their jobs reporting stories like this(at least the online ones)and political activists who are actively trying to stop abuses like this by the US government
        AGAINST ITS OWN PEOPLE!

The second blast was a smaller nuclear device called project Sterling which was set off inside the cavity created by the first blast.

        The hope was,
        for whatever ungodly reason,
that the second blast would not even be detected by seismic devices or anyone in the surrounding area.

The blast was set off two years after Project Salmon in 1966 and achieved the results our government was searching for as the greatly reduced weapon barely was detected.

        However,
two more tests were done here in 1969 and 1970 using conventional explosives which achieved the results our government was looking for,
        as well.

        For decades after the blast,
local residents complained of higher incidences of cancer and other health problems much greater than the national average.

Many had, in fact, forgotten all about the blasts due to the almost non existent media coverage of the event.

        In 2000,
a water pipeline was brought in to deliver water from miles away to help alleviate concerns about the nuclear testing and the health risks involved.”

The earth has been doing this on its own for thousands upon thousands of years. Big Deal.

Man come along ( in his infinite wisdom ) and starts mining operations for (well – just about everything) and it is only going to get worse.

We probably won’t blow up, nor will the earth open up and swallow us – so no worries.

Just be aware, be wary but don’t panic and think this is the end of the world.

Have a nice day and don’t worry about the bubbles in the ocean, just keep your eyes on the car in front of you and the idiot coming up behind you at 90 mph.

Liked the part about the oil seepage.New Orleans is loaded with oil, that’s why they tried to run out the poor inhabitants with HAARP engineered Katrina super storm. So they could take the land for free.

        Disaster capitalism at its best.

If that entire area is linked and involved and it is begining to look like it is, all of that area may well slip into one giant sink hole as those domes become weakened and deteriorate… It will look like a huge meteror strike when it has reached its maximum diameter of involvement, which will be MANY MILES WIDE… It won’t show as a hole in the ground like a meteor would leave, because of the water rushing in to fill the void… I sure wouldn’t want to be there, as the collapses will be random, as the domes weaken… Just my impression from watching and reading about this event since it first appeared, do with it what you may…

Speaking of HAARP, haarpstatus.com reports HAARP is “hot” over NW Australia right now.

      • Joerg Klaemt

Funny that you mention that,as I just wrote a comment above uinder Mark Branders Article.

    • Joerg Klaemt

We could all use some of that Methane to stay warm and reduce our Hydro Bills, maybe it causes more Global warming so that we can use it to run our Air conditioner in the Summer.
What a total waist of Energy, guess mankind will never learn. So much easier to harvest than oil.
Put it under pressure and you have the same as propane. Why couldn’t I think of that ….lol

    • Infowarrior_tru

The salt dome below Louisiana is the size of texas
