(Before It's News)
Come along to the Wheatsheaf pub at midday on October 12th for beer, wine, food, good company and to see the launch the Rev. Dr Peter Mullen’s new book entitled:
Unreal City: A Parish Priest in the Square Mile
(Published by Bretwalda Books)
A note from the author:
It is an affectionate memoir of my time in the City from 1998-2012 as Rector of St Michael’s Cornhill and Priest-in-Charge of St Sepulchre-without-Newgate. How to be Chaplain to the Lord Mayor in the millennium year; look after the pastoral needs of half a dozen ancient livery companies; minister to City types and down-and outs (not always easily distinguished the one from the other); take up the Bishop’s commission to revive two famous churches that were moribund: one had actually been closed for years; the other deadly declined so that, on my first Sunday the congregation for the main Mass numbered four. But soon a grand choir singing Mass settings every Sunday of Mozart, Haydn, Palestrina, Beethoven, Schubert and the rest… Fourteen years fun and games among a wonderful company of souls. What a time we had!
I hope you will come
