Creative destruction – a Marxist term…. Creative destruction (German: schöpferische Zerstörung), sometimes known as Schumpeter’s gale, is a concept in economics which since the 1950s has become most readily identified with the Austrian-American economist Joseph Schumpeter[1] who derived it from the work of Karl Marx and popularized it as a theory of economic innovation and the business cycle.

Mr. Keith Robertson Cochrane, CBE, FRSE, has been an Interim Group Chief Executive of Carillion plc since July 10, 2017. Mr. Cochrane served as the Chief Executive Officer of The Weir Group PLC since November 2, 2009 until September 30, 2016. He served as Group Finance Director of The Weir Group PLC since July 2006. He served as Group Chief Executive of Stagecoach Group plc from 2000 to July 21, 2002 and served as its Finance Director since 1996. Following a number of years with Arthur Andersen, he joined Stagecoach Group plc in 1993. He served as Director of Group Finance at Scottish Power Limited from May 2005 to June 2006. He joined ScottishPower in June 2003 as Director of Group Financial Reporting. He was responsible for Financial Reporting, Performance Management and Control, Tax and Treasury developing and delivering Scottish Power’s integrated financing strategy and has supported the Executive Team in driving and reporting business and financial performance. He has been a Non-Executive Director at Carillion plc since July 2, 2015. He serves as a Director of Citybus Group Limited. He serves as Non-Executive Director of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra Society Ltd. He serves as a Member of the UK Bus Executive Group. He has been Director of Carillion Finance (Jersey) Limited since November 28, 2017. Mr. Cochrane served as an Executive Director of The Weir Group PLC since July 3, 2006 until September 30, 2016. He served as Senior Independent Non Executive Director of Carillion plc from September 1, 2015 to July 10, 2017. He served as an Executive Director of Stagecoach Group PLC. He served as a Non-Executive Director of Road King Infrastructure Limited since June 12, 1998. Mr. Cochrane serves as Honorary Treasurer of Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. Mr. Cochrane has a First Class Honours degree in Accountancy from Glasgow University.
