Shares in industrial aviation services provider Bristow Group Inc (NYSE:BRS) took flight as it announced the recruitment of former American Airlines luminary, Bill Collins.
Collins, formerly the corporate vice president of the Aircraft, Engine, and Components Operations of American Airlines, has been appointed senior vice-president of Bristow’s operations, reporting to president and chief executive Jonathan Baliff.
He will be on a starting salary of US$325,000 a year.
Chat Akiri had been holding down the Operations gig along with his other responsibilities; following Collins’s appointment his job title will revert to senior vice president and chief commercial officer.
Shares in Bristow were up 13.3% at US$15.44 in afternoon trading.
