Never mind Marmite, the price of festival tents could be about to go up, warns Mountain Warehouse, the camping & hiking equipment retailer.
The retailer reported record half-yearly sales but warned that sterling’s collapse against every currency except the Slambovian Gumbo Bean could lead to price rises next year.
The retailer hedges against currency fluctuations, but those hedges run out in February of next year, so the message is to buy your woolly hats, anoraks and ski-wear now.
The pound has been about as popular as a skunk in a yurt since the UK voted to leave the European Union, and the fall-out from the Brexit vote has also prompted Mountain Warehouse to postpone plans for a stock market listing.
Nevertheless, the chain remains in expansion mode, with plans to double its current network of some 300 shops.
