Tech titan Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), which has long avoided putting any of its high-margin devices on sale, just announced a one-day holiday sales event for Black Friday.
Details of the event are slim, but as you can see in the image above, the Apple Watch is featured prominently. As such, consumers can safely expect some kind of discount or bundle deal for the world’s best-selling smartwatch.
Apple hasn’t participated in any Black Friday promotions since 2014, when it offered free iTunes gift cards with select purchases. This time around, the company is insinuating actual discounts on hardware, which again is a very rare occurrence.
The only thing the company will say about the move is that “Our one-day shopping event will be here before you know it. Come back this Friday to check everyone off your list.”
Those looking to head to brick-and-mortar Apple Stores to take advantage of the deals should probably call ahead first, since hours vary widely by location. Apple is famous for not requiring its employees to work long hours on holidays, so don’t expect any marathon all-night shopping sessions at your local Apple Store.
Apple shares rose $0.08 (+0.07%) to $111.81 in Tuesday afternoon trading. Year-to-date, shares of the world’s largest company by market cap have gained 6.24%.
