The company, which develops devices that use nerve blocking technology to suppress hunger pangs, saw its shares shoot up 61% to US$6.40, as it said its bloc metabolic therapy had been implanted in patients at the Mustard Health institute in Maryland and the Roper St Francis institute in South Carolina.
Mustard Health and Roper St. Francis are the twelfth and thirteenth bloc Institute programs to have integrated bloc Therapy and the bloc Achieve care delivery program into their practice to fight obesity, the company said.
The bloc Therapy works to control sensations of hunger using a pacemaker-like device that is implanted under the skin.
Patients feel the sensation of fullness, and thus are less likely to pig-out on unhealthy foods.
bloc Achieve is a comprehensive, personalized weight loss support program to help bloc patients reach and maintain health goals.
