Prognosticators Breakfast

Yesterday I had the pleasure to be invited to the Prognosticators Breakfast at my club. I am a member of the University Club in Chicago. It’s a great club downtown at Michigan and Monroe across the street from Millennium Park. There are some big changes coming to our club in the next year. They are building a huge new bar with an outdoor roof deck that overlooks the park. The great thing is it’s going to be casual, blue jeans allowed. If you want to join the U-Club let me know.  It’s one of the best squash clubs in the United States.  In the summer, the 12th floor Gallery opens and you can have a formal dinner outdoors overlooking the park.  Cathedral Hall is one of the most dramatic places to eat in the city.  Next week for Restaurant Week, you can eat there for $20.17!  The members are great.  I will paraphrase Roger Ebert in the documentary about his life, “if you are having a bad day, go sit in any room of the University Club.  There isn’t a bad room in the house.”

Here is a club video of the changes that are coming:

Anyway, I thought I would share the prognostications with you. We looked into our crystal balls and made predictions on a lot of things. The two things I thought I would share with you is the thoughts on one event that will happen, and the stock picks.

For the stock picks I created a watchlist at my Stocktwits Profile. I will leave them up all year so you can check. I also created a list at Ycharts you can see here under University Club Prognosticators.

The stocks are:
Amgen AMGN
Boston Scientific BSX
Blackstone Group BSX
Citigroup C
Carnival Cruise Lines CCL
Core Labs CLB
Duluth Holdings DLTH
Ford F
Hanes HBI
Humana HUM
Johnson and Johnson JNJ
KAR Auction Services KAR
Medfirst Solutions MFST
Microsoft MSFT
National Oilwell Varco NOV
Palo Alto Networks PANW
Plantronics PLT
Skyworks Solutions SWKS
Tesla TSLA
US Steel X

In the Ycharts watchlist, most of the stocks are rated as neutral.

When the soothsayers looked into the future, the dominant theme was war. A lot of people fear that North Korea is going to become a hot spot.
