MGX Minerals Inc (CNSX:MGX) has announced the results of processing tests on lithium brine taken from its 132,000 hectare Sturgeon Lake Petro Lithium project in Alberta.
The testing has been carried out by the company’s engineering partner Purlucid Treatment Solutions, which has successfully upgraded petro lithium brine from a bulk sample.
The process has successfully concentrated the lithium content by a factor of 20 while also removing contaminants in a low energy process.
The brine was upgraded from 67mg/L Li to 1600mg/L Li in the filtration and pre-treatment phase of the lithium extraction process.
In the latest optimization results, magnesium, boron and potassium were effectively removed in a low energy process with magnesium recovered in a form that may be saleable.
