Giant rabbit death latest PR horror to hit United Airlines

Shares in United Continental Holdings Inc (NYSE:UAL), the parent of beleaguered  group United Airlines, nudged higher despite it wrestling with another PR horror – the death of a giant rabbit!

Shares in UAL added 0.52% to $71.34 in early deals in New York.

The British Press has reported that Simon – a 10-month-old, 3-foot-long continental rabbit -  had been travelling on a flight to the US from London.

United is reportedly now investigating a report that the rabbit had passed away en route.

The rabbit was travelling to be with a new buyer and was potentially to have become the biggest in the world after father Darius grew to a whopping 4ft 4in (1.32 metres).

A United spokeswoman confirmed the airline had offered assistance to one of its customers and was reviewing the incident.

It comes just days after reports, which went viral, emerged of  an incident at the airport in Chicago, involving United.

David Dao, a 69-year-old American doctor, was dragged from his seat by airline police officials at O’Hare international airport on Sunday after refusing to leave.

Videos of Dao screaming and bleeding from his mouth went  viral and the company attracted much  criticism.

Chief executive Oscar Munoz had issued a statement apologising, saying “no one should ever be mistreated this way”.
