Eastmain Resources uncovers some of highest grades yet at Eau Claire

Eastmain Resources Inc (TSE:ER) continues to be impressed with drill results from its Eau Claire deposit in Quebec, where some of the best grades yet have now been uncovered.

Today’s assays come from 16 drill holes, including infill and step-out drill holes in the 450W Zone, and 850W Zone, which is helping to define a potential open pit and shallow underground project, it said.

A new mineral resource estimate for the deposit is earmarked to be completed in the third quarter of this year.

Highlights from the near surface intercepts (maximum depth of 100 meters (m) include 30.6 g/t (grams per ton gold) over 4.9 metres. That included an intercept of  254 g/t of the yellow metal over 0.5 metres.

In the shallow underground drilling  (between 100m and 300m depth) a highlight find was  42.3 g/t  of gold over 3.7 m, including 206 g/t of gold over 0.5 metres.

Eastmain president and chief executive Claude Limassol told investors on Tuesday: “These drilling results demonstrate some of the highest grades our current Eau Claire drill program has encountered.

“We continue to be encouraged by the drilling and are eager to receive the remaining 15-per-cent resource definition program results.”

The main aims of this latest drilling is to expand the understanding of the mineralizing controls at Eau Claire and test the limits of mineralized envelope.

Eastmain says is also aims to improve the drill spacing to show continuity between veins and increase the overall confidence in the deposit.

The junior explorer holds a 100% interest in the Eau Claire and Eastmain mine gold deposits, within the James Bay district of Quebec.
