Wingstop Inc. in the red as full-year earnings estimate falls below expectations

Wingstop Inc. (NASDAQ:WING) shares were down almost 9% in early trading on Friday following a disappointing outlook after-hours that was below analyst forecasts.

The Nasdaq-listed chicken-wing franchise saw its shares drop in after-hours trading on Thursday after the firm estimated its full-year earnings at 75 US cents a share, below analyst expectations of 83 US cents a share.

The forecast came as the company reported fourth-quarter net income of US$10.5mln, or 36 US cents a share, compared with US$4.3mln, or 15 US cents a share for the same period a year earlier.

The group saw its fourth-quarter revenue rise to US$28.3mln, up from US$24.6ml, and above forecasts for US$27.5mln.

In early New York trading, Wingstop shares were down 8.5% at US$42.83.
