Time To Celebrate With A Pull-Ups First Flush Party!

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

As a Pull-Ups First Flush Ambassador, I recently got the opportunity to host a great “Potty Party”! The awesome folks at Pull-Ups sent me some great party kits full of coupons, progress charts, stickers, and of course, noise-makers and adorable party hats!

We had our little soiree a couple of weeks ago, and we had several neighborhood kids over. Sadly, many of the parents did not want their children’s images to be published for privacy reasons which I have to respect,  so  I will be featuring pictures of my own toddlers partying it up. I completely understood their concerns, especially since I am “that parent” that won’t allow my teen to have a Facebook or get online without complete and total supervision. While this threw a bit of a wrench in things, it certainly didn’t stop us from having fun!

We had a great time sharing potty-training stories and watching the kids’ excitement as they did the Potty Dance. (Yes, I just happened to have that DVD on hand already!) We also watched “Once Upon A Potty”, which is a great potty-learning DVD that has been a God-send in helping my kids learn not only about potty-training, but also their own bodies! Even my soon to be 13 year old benefited from this DVD when he was a toddler!!

I even prepared a nice platter of cheeses, cold cuts, banana peppers, mushrooms, and olives for people to snack on or make sandwiches with. It was SO tasty!
So the parents ate while and socialized, the kids danced and played. It was great to see the kids having so much fun watching the Pull-Ups DVD and dancing, and the adults were able to compare potty-training nightmares and successes.

I got to share my love for Pull-Ups with the other parents. Many of them use them already, and some still had their toddlers in plain diapers. So I pulled out a package of Pull-Ups and showed everyone why we love them.

First of all, my kids adore the fun designs on their Pull-Ups. The girls’ package contains both Cinderella and Minnie Mouse designs, and Sophie absolutely freaks over them. Xander does, too, even though he’s a boy. (Hey, there is nothing wrong with a little boy liking princesses, haha)

The front of the Pull-Ups are colorful and have loads of detail, including a wetness indicator that allows you to see at a glance if there has been an accident. Here, Sophie is in a Cinderella Pull-Up, and as you can see, the wetness indicator is showing she needs a new pair. She’s still having some accidents, as potty-training is a process that takes time and lots and lots of patience.

The back of the Pull-Ups are equally adorable, and have feminine details and a cute little Cinderella mouse! All of the parents loved the cute design and the amount of detail on the girls’ Pull-Ups. (Yes, there are boys’ designs available as well!)
Pull-Ups are very trim-fitting, since they’re made to act more like regular underwear than a diaper. It took a bit of transitioning since I am a cloth-diapering mama. I had tried cloth training pants, but Sophie absolutely despises them and refuses to wear them. So switching to Pull-Ups was pretty much inevitable! I really like how easy they are to pull on and off, even for little people, and the fact that should there be an accident of epic proportions, there are convenient tear away sides that keep you from having to slide a mess down your child’s legs.
I also gave each parent a coupon booklet, some stickers, and a Potty Progress chart. I showed them Sophie’s chart, which I mark with a star every time she meets one of these goals. She’s doing a really good job so far, but we still have a ways to go, particularly when it comes to wiping!
Sophie was the star of the party, so she got to wear the official “Big Kid” party hat. Xander didn’t mind, and sported a nice blue one. The other kids had party hats to wear, too! One of our neighbors who has autism refused to wear a hat, and that was okay with us. She had fun blowing the noise-makers!
Much to my surprise, my 2 year old, Xander, decided he wanted to sit on the potty, just like his big sister. Of course he was fully dressed and didn’t actually use the potty, but I was thrilled to see him so willing to sit nicely for about 10 minutes. Maybe he will be ready to start potty-training sooner than later! It’s always been my experience that boys are more difficult than girls in this respect, but he and Sophie are only 12 months apart in age, so she’s a great role model for him.
Overall, our Pull-Ups First Flush Party was a great success. The kids had lots of fun dancing, playing, and socializing, and the parents all appreciated the moral support we offered each other. It was nice to get to know some more of our neighbors, since we’re still considered the “newbies” in the neighborhood! The kids made some new friends, and so did Dan and I! And of course, Sophie was so proud of herself for being the “Big Kid”!
