British designer Vanessa Harden’s Subversive Gardener line of jewelry and accessories

They tap into the urban, guerrilla gardening movement in which gardeners take over vacant lots or concrete medians for gardens. Harden creates ball caps with hidden garden rakes, rings with garden tools embedded in the design and other sly, clever accessories.

Tools for Her is the new collection of accessories designed to function as guerrilla gardening tools. Tools for Her presents a trio of brass ‘nail-dusters’ that can be used as a spade, rake and shovel in urban gardening. Each tool is paired with fabulous nail polish and seed varieties to stylishly integrate gardening assaults into the guerrilla gardener’s daily routine.

Tools for Him is a new collection of accessories designed to function as guerrilla gardening tools. Tools for Him presents a brass grill with telescopic seed shooter and a ball cap with rake attachment. The ball cap is used to covertly disrupt soil for effective planting while the grill employs the users breath to spit seeds into hard-to-reach areas. Each tool is paired with dance moves and seed varieties to stylishly integrate gardening assaults into the guerrilla gardener’s daily routine.

TOOLS BY ‘Q’ is a collection of accessories designed to function as guerrilla gardening tools. TOOLS BY ‘Q’ presents a handbag, briefcase, loafer and camera that double as tools to plant seeds and shrubbery. Each tool is paired with a smart jacket and a variety of seed pills to stylishly integrate gardening assaults into the guerrilla gardener’s daily routine.

In Seed Bombing the Tate, the Tate Modern’s vast Turbine Hall is host to Abraham Cruzvillegas’ Empty Lots – beds of soil collected from around London left to “chance, change and hope”. Richard Reynolds and Vanessa Harden team up with friends and gallery visitors to seed bomb the installation and show how human interaction with soil reveals the potential in it.

Seed Bombing the Tate features The Subversive Gardener: Blingshot – a bejewelled catapult designed to function as a guerrilla gardening tool. Blingshot is used to launch seed pills into distant and hard-to-reach areas in need of environmental rejunvenation.The Blingshot is paired with a camouflage jacket and a variety of seed pills to stylishly integrate gardening assaults into the guerrilla gardener’s daily routine.
