Excerpt from fundraising site:
Sea to Sky Aquaponics is in need of funds to expand its educational aquaponics program for schools. Funds will be used to:
(1) develop an aquaponics program that directly applies to the biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics curriculums;
(2) design and build a wider variety of aquaponic systems
(3) attend the Amazing Agriculture event at Northlands (Edmonton, May 2017).
Sea to Sky Aquaponics has set a minimum goal of $5000 to achieve these aims.
SEA TO SKY AQUAPONICS was started in 2016 with the goal of bringing sustainable food production systems to schools across Canada. It is our vision to have aquaponics incorporated into the school curriculum.
Funds will be used to work with James Stuart of St. Richards Catholic Elementary (Edmonton, AB) to develop an aquaponics curriculum that directly applies to the biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics school curriculums. We will be meeting with David Eggen, Minister of Education (Alberta) to take the initial steps in seeing how aquaponics could be incorporated into the Alberta School Curriculum. At the very least, it is hoped that this meeting will provide further opportunities to bring aquaponic systems to more schools.
