Will the Greeks Pay their debts? (Tom Holian)
Sterling vs Euro exchange rates have ended the week at their highest level breaking through 1.38 as fears increase of a Greek default.
Talks stalled between the Greeks and the IMF on Thursday quoting major differences about the current deal and proposed suggestions.
The Greek government have not reformed enough in the eyes of the IMF and with the next repayment due at the end of the month it appears as though the Greeks are running out of time.
This has caused Euro weakness against both the Pound and US Dollar as investors sell off the single currency in favour of safer havens.
This month alone the Greeks owe EUR6.74bn to the IMF, Eurozone and treasury bills and with last week’s debt repayment delayed until the end of the month things are not looking good.
