Factors impacting GBPEUR exchange rates in the upcoming weeks (Dayle Littlejohn)

There are two main reasons why people are looking on the internet for information on GBPEUR exchange rates and therefore stumble across our site. In regards to the market the pound has been losing value against the euro since the Bank of England confirmed that wage growth is dwindling however inflation is continuing to rise. If this trend continues inflation could get out of control as there is no hint the Bank of England are going to raise interest rates anytime soon. With Retail Sales numbers set to be released tomorrow morning I wouldn’t be surprised to see further falls tomorrow morning.

Looking further ahead the UK public will visit the polls once more to decide who will run the country after the 8th June. The general consensus on the market is that the Conservatives will win a majority which should provide strength for the pound.

In regards to the Eurozone a major economic event to look out for is Greece’s bailout payment early July. Yesterday and today there have been major protests and striking in Greece due to the new Austerity measures the Syriza party plan to bring in. The problem the Syriza party has is that Eurozone finance ministers are putting pressure on Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and this is filtering through to the Greek public.
