Short term opportunity for euro buyers (Dayle Littlejohn)

In 5 days the French public will be making there way back to the polling stations to vote on who will become the next President. The two candidates have a different view in regards to the EU and this in turn should have a direct impact on the value of the Euro. Macron who won the first round of voting, believes France needs to part of the EU, where as Marine Le Pen wants France out of the Euro as soon as possible.

Polls are suggesting that the Pro EU candidate will win consequently investor confidence should rise. If this is the case people holding onto sterling wanting to purchase euros could be in for a shock next week when rates fall.

Many of my clients are either business owners and purchase eurozone exports or are purchasing property in Europe. If you fit into this category and need to purchase euros short term it may be wise to think about arranging your transfer this week.

Regardless of the polls suggesting Macron will be a clear winner, past history tells us to expect volatility for the remainder of the week and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the highest levels for purchasing euros towards the end of the week.
