There is a real fear that much of the Gold being circulated is in fact tungsten. There are major questions about gold supposedly held in reserve (as in this article, is indeed not there. When you also add the massive amounts of leveraged and paper gold that is ether tainted or non-existent you come to a situation where people and governments loose faith in Gold and engage in panic selling to anyone foolish enough to still be buying. Rather than the price of gold skyrocketing, it very well could plummet into the basement, leaving people and governments who rushed to it as security or to make a profit, very poor indeed!
