Effects Of Oil Spill Killing Unborn Dolphins?

Baby dolphins, Either Aborted Before They Reached Maturity Or Dead Soon After , Washing Up on Mississippi Beaches

Is it the lingering effects from the oil spill last year or could it possibly be from the dispersants used?   What exactly is causing either aborted dolphin fetuses (or new born baby dolphins) to wash up on the shores of Mississippi at 10 times the normal rate?

The Sun Herald news paper from Mississippi is reporting that 17 baby dolphins, some of which were barely 3 feet in length, have been collected from along the shorelines of the Gulf of Mexico.  This is the first birthing “season” since the oil spill.

“For some reason, they’ve started aborting or they were dead before they were born,” Solangi said. “The average is one or two a month. This year we have 17 and February isn’t even over yet.”   Moby Solangi is Director of The Institute of Marine Mammal Studies and is doing animal autopsies, on two of the dead baby dolphins today.
