Which Soft Drinks Do Not Have Fructose?

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

At one time, all soft drinks contained sugar as the sweetening agent. In the 1980s, most soft drinks switched from sugar to high fructose corn syrup to sweeten their products. Fructose, which occurs naturally in fruits, honey and vegetables, is used in crystalline form in soft drinks. Soft drinks made the switch because corn was cheaper than sugar. Concerns about the role high fructose corn syrup plays in obesity have led some groups to search for soft drinks made with sugar. Finding soft drinks made without fructose can be difficult, but some major brands are beginning to offer sugar alternatives.

Which Soft Drinks Do Not Have Fructose?

Coca-Cola, Pepsi Cola and Royal Crown colas contain high fructose corn syrup–at least the versions sold in the United States do. Coca-Cola and Pepsi Cola sold in Mexico, however, contain sugar. Mexico’s Pepsi version is sold as Pepsi Retro and in the United Kingdom as Pepsi Raw. Mexican Coke, called Coca-Cola hecho en Mexico, has shown up in Costco in green glass bottles in the Southwest and other areas. In 2009, Pepsi was marketing two types of fructose-free colas, Pepsi Throwback and Pepsi Natural, being tested in limited markets. Kosher colas sold for Passover also contain sugar rather than fructose. One bottling manufacturer for Coca-Cola still uses sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup for his franchises in parts of Pennsylvania and in Cleveland, according to “Consumer Reports.”

Clear Sodas

Some clear sodas still contain high fructose corn syrup, while others have switched back to sugar. Seven-Up contains fructose, while Pepsi’s Sierra Mist contains sugar. Sprite, made by Coke, still contains the fructose syrup in the United States, but the Mexican brand of Sprite, Botella Edicion Limitada, contains sugar, BevReview.com reports.

Ginger Ale

The best-known ginger ales, including Canada Dry, Schweppes, Seagrams and Vernors all contain high fructose corn syrup. Some less-well-known brands, such as the Whole Foods’ 365 Ginger Ale, Boylan’s Ginger Ale, sold at Trader Joe’s. and Stirrings Ginger Ale are made with sugar rather than fructose. Outrageous Ginger Ale from Natural Brew, made by Smuckers, also contains sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup.

I love the ads for diet coke, containing aspartame, which is much worse than corn syrup…

Does anyone even drink that garbage anymore?

You said, “while Pepsi’s Sierra Mist contains sugar” I completely stopped drinking pop until this Sierra Mist came out…guess what? It has aspartame in it. The only thing I did different was drink this pop the following morning I was spinning like a top out of control. My balance was GONE.
Bottom line…sugar is super bad also. It appears that cancer cell scientist and researchers use sugar to excite the cell if it does not respond…think about that for a second. Sugar is a chemical, period.
Drink juice or water as long as it not fracking water…
