Disturbing: Burger King Admits Burgers Contain Horsemeat

In a piece of highly disturbing news, Burger King has now admitted after continuous denial that it has actually been selling UK customers both burgers and Whoppers that contain horsemeat. This admission comes just after The Guardian reports that Burger King reps offered a round of ‘absolute assurances’ to customers that it did not ever use horsemeat in its products.

A series of tests done on the burger products now reveal that Burger King has been issuing completely phony statements, with burgers made for the fast food chain from the Irish company Silvercrest containing measurable levels of horsemeat. It’s important to note this is the same company that processes meat for Tesco, Asda, and the Co-op. The managers at Silvercrest have been revealed to be utilizing non-approved ingredients within their burger assortment – even for ‘household brands’.

Burger King Admits to Horsemeat in Whoppers, Burgers

Burger King admitted just a few hours ago that the samples did in fact contain horsemeat:

“Four samples recently taken from the Silvercrest plant have shown the presence of very small trace levels of equine DNA… we have established that Silvercrest used a small percentage of beef imported from a non-approved supplier in Poland. This is a clear violation of our specifications, and we have terminated our relationship with them.”

It is not yet clear which of these top brands could be containing such concerning ingredients as horse meat and other ‘meat cut offs’. What is known is that tens of thousands of burgers from suppliers like Silvercrest and others in Germany have been shipped into Burger King alone to meet demand just in the UK. According to the Daily Mail report on the study results, the horsemeat contamination can be traced back to a full year, or at least since last May.

The investigation into this issue started after the Food Safety Authority of Ireland found that burgers out of Ireland contained horsemeat. The disturbing findings highlight yet another reason not to consumer fast food, which contains a host of problematic substances such as ingredients banned in other nations.

Is horse meat less nutritious than beef?

      • Decode the World

A little sweeter and leaner. Probably better for you, but horses are special animals, beautiful creatures. Of course, you could just skip eating meat altogether, but burgers are pretty good, especially with bacon.

        • Maverick

Haha ‘special animals’ Why? because we can ride them? What makes eating horse meat any different than a cows meat? Seriously.

      • ElOregonian

Ah, come on… You’re just ‘horsing’ around now, Right?

      • b.s

Doesn’t matter anonymous the fact is that it was misleading to the public. If they say its beef then it should be just that…. beef not horsemeat.

Jack in the Box had kangaroo meat in LA restaurants about 30 years ago.

    • desertspeaks

jack in the box was busted in the US for the same thing in the 80′s, never ate there again.. will never eat at bk again!

      • Anonymous

McD’s doing the same thing, for sure. Not to mention most grocery stores. This is the way for the carbon-nazis to gross people out to enforce vegetarianism.

    • Flazz

      Damn they sure do.taste good.

      • ElOregonian

        Their ‘secret’ ingredient? ‘Horse-radish! BRILLIANT!

    • Lord Drek

I never liked the fake-grilled flavor of BK’s patties.

horses are unclean animals. keep God’s laws if you love Him.

      • Pharisees.org

this Anony character is a hypocrite telling people keep God’s laws

        AND

telling them to follow the false apostle and anti-Christ Pharisee Paul who says:

Colossians 2:14 “Christ nailed the law to the cross ….”

        and

Romans 8:3 “[we are under] the law of the Spirit in the life of Jesus Christ ….”

Further, the false apostle curses any being that teaches Gentiles to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, the minister of the Circumcision, as the moron Pharisee Paul refers to Him.

The real issue here is consumption of fast food which may taste great but is lacking nutrition, people should eat fruits and vegetables that’s a big ask, I eat meat and would think hard of giving it up, but the evidence is in people who consume raw fruits and vegetables and take certain supplements are be disease free.
I used to work in this particular industry several years ago as a quality controoler and manager, its a rough tough low margin high cost, highly regulated with just so many issues that can show such as this current horse meat crisis. The supermarkets are greedy beyond words and will engage in PR to show they operate to the ‘highest’ standards.’
We could return to local business doing food that is produced locally and organically – it costs too much you might say but with a restructured financial system where the Irish people create their own money interest free, produce their own food, adopt free energy devices which are near ready to go into mass production see Andrea Rosssi’s cold fusion, use natural ingredients to cure ailments this would change the country.

    • holycrap

This reminds me of the Cheers episode where Norm and Sam go out for a meal of lubster and baff.

    • Viking

I was told that the difference between McDonalds and Burger King is that McD’s uses egg to bind the meat together and BK uses cow eyeballs. Nasty.

I quit eating fast food once I watched Supersize Me.

    • midwestgrandma

And that’s just what we know about.

For all you young people out there, read Soylent Green.

For all you young people out there that can’t read, see the movie – 1973.

A lot of pet food is now rendered animal shelter dogs and cats that they cram into a decompression chamber and resell the “meat” (do the research folks, simply put down you remotes, ipods, cell phones, romance / fantasy novels and do the research).

So much evil stuff is going on right under your noses and y’all just keep sleeping in the matrix.

You get exactly the society you deserve – our movies warn us what is coming. It’s like the boys at Bohemian Grove have to drop hints before they do the stuff they have planned for us.

Now research Bohemian Grove, Satanic Hollywood and how shelters really put 6-8 millions unwanted animals asleep every year.

      Horse meat is the beginning.

If a $$ profit $$ can be made, our corporations that have taken over our planet will do anything including the unthinkable.

Most people simply don’t care, or prefer to live in denial – so be it. You get exactly the type of society you deserve by your apathy.

Best horsemeat fast food burgers out there.

      • cyber35

Burger King has (from what I have tried) the best burgers. However, McDonald’s is cheaper!

        • J

that is really sad you think that because those are both the worst, and yes “cheapest”.
maybe you should try a local restaurant’s burger, made there at the restaurant believe it or not!

    • cyber35

If this is true, then I can say that I have eaten horse before. :-)

    • Cosmic Charlie

      Soylent green is people!

    • MajorP

      “trace amounts of dna”
That says it right there. The beef came from a facility that also processes horse meat and probably doesn’t do a perfect clean-up job in between.

    • JustinNightWolf

So what, its still delicious !!!!

    • §imon

Whats the big deal? Horse meat like the pig was not created for consumption. Leviticus 11 The consumption of these unclean animals causes confusion. You can get your wisdom from Yahweh or Burger King. It’s obvious most of you have already made your choice.

    • Pick Up After Your Dogma

Shouldn’t be strapping on your feed bags in fast food restaurants anyway.

    • Anonymous

Yeah I read about this, that is so nasty!

    • Joerg Klaemt

Wont happen at Fatburger, you may pay a little more but its pure Beef Sirloin unfrozen not precooked.

Spit and boogers are also added. Go Vegetarian and let the meat eaters get what they deserve.

    • Rock

People need to know if they are being served horse meat.

Equine meat is eaten daily in Europe.

    • Anonymous
