Signs Your Body Is Too Acidic and Ways to Quickly Alkalize It (Video)

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

(N.Morgan) Recently it has come to light that our bodies may be too acidic and this can lead to major health issues. It can create the perfect environment for illness, bacteria, and yeast to thrive. When the body is overly acidic, the body will extract minerals from vital organs and bones to neutralize the acid and remove it from the body. Because of this, the body’s mineral reserves such as calcium, sodium, potassium and magnesium can be depleted and cause damage that can go undetected for years, until it becomes a the medical crisis and can lead to complications such as acidosis .

Many people are consuming enough acid forming foods in their diets, such as dairy, grains, meats and sugar.

Since the body is constantly generating acidic waste products from the metabolism, those waste products need to be neutralized or excreted in some way. In order to neutralize the constant acid generation, we need to supply the body with more alkaline foods.

Health problems caused by mild acidosis (poor pH balance):

Inflamed sensitive gums, cavities
•Immune deficiency
•Sciatica, lumbago, stiff neck
•Respiratory problems, shortness of breath, coughing
•Yeast fungal overgrowth
•Low energy and chronic fatigue
•Cardiovascular damage, including the constriction of blood vessels and reduction in oxygen
•Heart problems, arrhythmias, increased heart rate
•Weight gain, obesity and diabetes
•Bladder and kidney infections
•Accelerated free radical damage
•Premature aging
•Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
•Osteoporosis, weak brittle bones, hip fractures, bone spurs
•Headaches, confusion, sleepiness
•Joint pain, aching muscles and lactic acid buildup
•Allergies, acne

Doesn’t the body adjust pH on its own?

Answer according to The Hearty SoulYes it can, but it does so at a price. The normal pH for all tissues and fluids in the body, except the stomach is alkaline. With the exception of blood, all of the body systems have a wide pH range, in part so they can shift to maintain the blood pH, which must be maintained at the very narrow margin of 7.35 to 7.45.  For example, if the system becomes too acidic, the blood will take alkaline forming elements from the digestive enzyme system of the small intestine. This now creates a less than optimal environment for proper digestion. So while the body can adjust pH on its own, it does so at a price to other systems in the body, which can lead to additional health problems.

Restore PH Balance – 9 Ways To Alkalize Your Body Today

Start by learning what your pH Levels are

pH testing is important because it allows an individual to get a numeric representation of the current level of acidification in their body. A healthy average pH reading will range anywhere from 6.75 to 7.25. The optimal pH numeric reading is 7.36. There will be more eferences at the bottom of this article to point you in the right direction to better health.

Taste alone won’t tell you if food is acidic or alkaline

An example, most people think of lemons as acidic, while it is classified as an acidic fruit, it is actually an alkaline forming food. During the process of digestion the acids are oxidized into carbon dioxide and water, therefore they do not create an acid condition in the system.

Calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium and sodium are the main alkalizing minerals. Foods that are high in this minerals are considered alkaline forming food.  Most foods have both acid and alkaline minerals in them. If acidic minerals are greater in concentration than that food is considered acidic and vice versa.

The body has its limits

The body has limits for how much it can compensate for acid imbalance. Therefore food intake plays a critical role in maintaining the acid-alkaline balance. Many diseases and general malaise are the result of the body’s attempt and failure to rebalance the internal environment.

Generally speaking, if the diet includes too many acid forming foods, such as high amounts of meats, grains, dairy, sugars, the body becomes more acidic. If you eat too many alkaline producing foods such as greens, fruits, sea vegetables the body can become too alkaline. Balance is key.

How does your body respond to specific foods?

It’s important to understand how your body responds to various foods depends on your dominant constitutional type. If your dominant type is oxidative then fruits and vegetables move the body to the more acid side, while proteins make your body more alkaline. If however you are more dominant to the autonomic system (ANS) then proteins cause your body to become more acidic and fruits and vegetables shift the body to a more alkaline environment.

Ways you can improve your alkalinity

1. Check your pH regularly

2. Drink plenty of water (alkaline water when possible)

3. Remove acidic foods

4. Replace a traditional lunch with a large green salad.

5. Use lettuce leaves and collard greens as wraps.

6. Try not to consume processed foods

7. Eliminate soda, sugars and coffee. Replace them with herbal tea, herbal coffee and green drinks

8. Replace dairy milks with coconut or almond milk

9. Add green juices or smoothies to your diet

What kinds of foods you consume matters

Working at improving pH levels may require a little more thought, but you’ll appreciate the healthy benefits of your efforts as you begin to feel more energetic and vibrant and your overall health improves.

There is no question about it, what you eat has a direct impact on your overall health. It was Ann Wigmore, founder of the renowned Hippocrates Health Institute who said, “The food you eat can be either be the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison.”

      Hello Angle#3(prelim),

Charlie here. I don’t know why but you make me hungry for doughnuts.

I guess my body must really be in alkalosis doughnutiaisis coffeedosis. I’d better take myself to the nearest Starbucks pronto!

      Signed,

Charlie (I have a card that says do not call the ambulance. Give doughnuts instead)

      • Chet

Not sure if this means anything to you Charlie but did ya know…..

Donuts may contain MSG and in some cases Chicken remnants?

        http://www.realfoodkosher.com/krispy-kreme-deconstructed/

        • Pink Slime

Well I didn’t see chicken remnants but I did see just about every chemical known to mankind! So, they are using doughnuts as a chemical dump, eh??

I’ll get to the bottom of this!

I’ll make sure they put a warning sign on EVERY doughnut (like cigarettes) that says, WARNING! TOXIC CHEMICAL DUMP!

Then all the doughnuts in the world WILL BE MINE!!! YEESSSSSS!!! LOL!! (diabolical laugh here.)

          • PA-LEASE!

 You are SO funny!!!!

            • Pink Slime

              Oh, thanks!

Keep it up Charlie, you’re on your way to carcinogenesis, you’ll have cancer in no time.

            • Pink Slime

I hope it’s cancer of the doughnut.

    • ThirdEyeOpen

      EXCELLENT!!! Right on mark.

    • Man

does any one test their pH value? and with what? blood, vomit, urine?

pH-indicators aren’t that precise in reading pH as in the article. you can’t measure 7,36 unless you buy a Glass electrode.

And then there is another problem. IF you can change you pH, how valid is a 1 measurement during the day? Does the pH value fluctuate during the day? what happens if you drink something acidic. how long does it take to change your pH and how long until it balances it out? are all foods similar in absorption rates by the body?

How much of a certain food do you need to eat to offset a bad pH and what are the buffers in your body doing?

    • srsly1

You can’t change the pH of your blood by what you eat. Your body ALREADY does this naturally. If it didn’t you’d already be dead. But go ahead, listen to hollywood celebs who made this diet popular, morons.

      • ThirdEyeOpen

Awh, somebody’s been reading WebMD. Hollywood diet aside, you’re right about one thing – your body does adjust the PH naturally BUT according to what you put in it (EAT). No question the trendy diet is for monetary gain versus an education of how the “natural” system works.

In fact, what you put in your system will determine how your body “naturally” deals with it and those consequences being on a cellular level influenced by its ability to process the chemicals that are in the system.

Consider carcinogens (poisons) such as starches, refined sugars, table salt, preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, GMO’s with built in pesticides, fried foods, arsenic trioxides (in dark-meat fish, chicken/poultry, rice, beer, wine and brussel sprouts, well water, water heaters, soil) fluoride, prescription narcotics, mercury and other pollutants. According to research by chemists and physicists, they have known since the early 1900s that carcinogens prevent the cells from absorbing oxygen (respiration) and they will mutate into cells that can survive with no respiration. These cells will clump together and ferment (like yeast) as tumors which can easily become cancerous. Consequently, these lovely little beasts produce acids which “naturally lower your PH level” to a more acidic base in which they thrive. Absent these carcinogens, cells can remain healthy and maintain respiration. As a result your PH level will stay in the desired range.

So common sense would tell us that what you put in the system will consequently influence what the system does in response. It’s a biological machine and food is it’s fuel. If you put diesel in a car designed for unleaded – it’s going to have MAJOR problems. Likewise, the body is no different.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

        • srsly1

Your diesel analogy doesn’t relate at all. Our bodies excrete what we put into it in varying amounts of pH to adjust what the blood needs. So yes, our bodies are already doing what they should be doing. You will see your urine fluctuate in pH according to what you put it, this is what the body is doing to keep the blood pH stable. So no, we cannot adjust the pH of our blood through what we eat. And no, I don’t read webmd, but thanks for assuming so. This is basic human physiology. Try going to school and learning about the human body instead of just reading fad diet websites and regurgitating their info.

          • DISPENSER

            Stop making sense………………………………. David Burns

        • srsly1

Oh, and btw, if my car worked like my body and I put diesel in instead of unleaded, it would refine it, use the newly converted fuel, and dump the waste before it even reached the carbuerator.

        • ThirdEyeOpen

          Great – so you agree!

“Our bodies excrete [WHAT WE PUT INTO IT] in varying amounts of pH to adjust what the blood needs. So [YES], our bodies are already doing what they should be doing. You will see your urine fluctuate in pH according to [WHAT YOU PUT IT]…”

          :?: OR NOT?

“[SO NO], we cannot adjust the pH of our blood [THROUGH WHAT WE EAT].”

That’s a contradiction within the same paragraph! Which is it? :???:

Of course you missed the point of the analogy because you took it literal versus principally. I assure you this is not an indication as to my level of education, rather yours. You see, I understand physiology and biology very well, perhaps you may want to follow your own advise.

  Even though you missed the point to begin with, I can say with certainty that what you EAT DOES have a tremendous bearing on the PH (acidic/alkaline) balance in your system (CAUSE). The body will in fact automatically compensate for what is put into it – good, bad or neutral. However, when you consume toxins, it changes the cellular ability to absorb oxygen – this is the EFFECT (see Dr. Otto Warburg – 1931 Nobel prize winner). These cells secrete carbonic acids that change the PH in the body to an acidic state (acidosis). While the kidneys and lungs will try to compensate for PH by releasing H+ (see Haldane effect), this acidic (low PH) environment is where illness, disease and cancer in particular, thrive! (SYMPTOMATIC) Conversely, a less acidic environment (one where toxin intake is minimal) encourages HEALTHY cellular activity which translates to a healthy system.

:!: To insinuate that what one eats has no bearing on the PH level of the body is remiss. It is essentially telling folks that they can eat whatever they want without consequence because their PH will adjust naturally and they have no influence whether their systems are acidic or alkaline – WHICH IS A LIE! You appear to be a disinformationalist trying to baffle people with BS. Though you try to discourage it, there are those of us who will continue to be responsible for our own wellbeing and we’ll keep our $ from big PHARMA and the healthcare shysters – because we ARE educated!

          • srsly1

well I had a nice reply, but it was deleted for some reason. I’ll argue this with you the next time this article pops up (probably within the next week).

          • srsly1

Since this article reappeared, I’ll respond again. I’ll try to make this easy to understand for the simple minded. You excrete what you put in. Your body keeps your blood at a constant pH. If you put in to much acid, you excrete it. If you put in too much alkaline, you excrete it. Your blood doesn’t change. You seem to think blood and urine are the same thing for some reason. So *NO* you cannot change the pH of your BLOOD with what you eat. Urine yes, blood no. Is that too complicated to understand?

You fall right into the multi-million dollar healthy eating industry’s hands. They tell you you’re dying, you buy their shit. They suck up to your smug, egotistical attitude, and play you. You probably drive a prius.

    • Didianna

Good article, she has done lots of reasearch. Alkality is the basic thing that keeps us healthy. The yogies has known this since time immemorial. Other matters come along. Weather one is able to measure pH or not, but although eating moslty alkaline food the yogies seem to be in good heath, so follow the yogies!!!

    • uknowthetruth

you know what i find hilarious about these kind of posts (whilest they most likely do hold some kind of truth to them) i eat and drink a serious amount of crap, like i will drink red bull every day and eat the sittyest foods a human being can eat…the kind of lifestyle any doctor or dentists would highly dissaprove….but the funny thing is i never have any dental or health issues what so ever (it actually even amazes me everytime i go for check ups and everything is in good working order)…and i literally live on junkfood…either my body is just used to a junkfood/drink heavy lifestyle or these articles are exaggerting the problem….

      • ThirdEyeOpen

Good deal! You must be young or VERY fortunate. Either way, you are a rare exception. While most BIN posts are indeed exaggerated there is a clear need to disclose the causation of the health crisis that is going on in this country!

Used to be, years ago, there was a gas station on every corner and people were thin! It was rare to see someone overweight and then it was usually due to a thyroid problem. Now, there is a healthcare facility or pharmacy on every corner (at least where I live). As you drive up and down the interstate there are hospitals, children’s centers, urgent care, doctor’s offices, outpatient facilities and billboards advertising health networks for a 50 mile stretch between two major cities. And I’d say (conservatively 75% of the locals are obese!) That speaks volumes at to the number of sick people keeping these facilities in business. WHY? Because, illness generates BIG $$$!

      • Sun Rabbit

Red Bull is dangerous. They banned it in Denmark because it contained traces of cocaine. I tried Red Bull ONCE and never again. I was shaking and had a heart rate of 120 for 8 hours with some occasional arrythmia. Keep in mind I drink about 3-4 coffee cups a day and smoke so I’m used to stimulants.

      • Sun Rabbit

Actually I eat a pretty bad diet myself however I counter any negative effects of that (and smoking) by consuming about 1/2 a bulb of freshly chopped garlic every day, never eating sugar, and avoiding toxins like fluoride. I don’t use toothpaste, just baking soda and 1x a week peroxide. Same with shampoo which contains carcinogens like SLS, methylisothiazole, and more. I quit sugar when I was 16 and in the last 30+ years I’ve had ONE new cavity. Instead of shampoo I use pure unadulterated soap (kernel soap, or “kernseife” as it’s called here), rinse and flush with a diluted vinegar solution. That surprises people because I have very long hair.
Surprising when you consider that I drink a lot of alcohol as well. Since I can’t really control it, I’ve made a compromise where I’ll go 2-6 months without a single drink, then when the osession becomes unbearable I’ll plan it out in advance and have a “lost week” where I just lose it. I’ve read a lot about this and even in the literature I never came across anyone who could drink as much as I do. I’m talking 4-6 liters of wine a day. Theoretically bad, but the payoff is immense. I look about 20 years younger than anyone my age, and those “lost weeks” is when I’ve done some of my best work. In one such episode I conceived and implemented a brand new system of integrating SWIFT-BIC protocol based payments with major cryptocurrencies seamlessly. While trashed.

well im always the outsider but i live on sugar and am probly full of cancer. i cant digest anything but sugar, wine or things that turn to sugar, soupy refried beans, spuds/butter/gravy/Bacon crisp at times, Cheese/Milk. So i eat about a C of food a day if i think i can. Pretty much sucks
