(Before It's News)

Think of one habit which you want to quit today. We’re sure, there are many. You just don’t have enough time and determination to quit them. Better late than never! It is the high time now that you start maintaining a distance with all your bad habits in order to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. Let’s have a look at a few bad habits that you might have and how you can call it quits.

1. Skipping breakfast
Skipping breakfast is one of the dangerous habits that we all need to quit right now without any second thoughts. This is perhaps because avoiding breakfast completely affects your energy levels, weight, and overall health drastically. This slows down your metabolism, thus making you overeat in the later parts of the day.
It is thus highly recommended to have breakfast in the morning, no matter what! Have food that you like. It could be anything like a sandwich, a fruit, yogurt or a bowl of soup. The bottom line is to consume some nutrients first thing in the morning so that your body is ready for the day.

2. Getting sunburned in summer
You might love sunbath, but what you might not be aware of is that sunbathing can destroy the elastic fibers of your skin, thus making it look sagged. Further, sunburn can even make skin issues like wrinkles, freckles, and blotches more prominent, thus aging your skin prematurely. The bad news is that problems caused by sunburn can never be reversed. So, protect your skin and keep it softer and suppler. It is highly recommended to visit your dermatologist to inspect the condition of your skin. It is advisable to wear a good sunscreen and drink green tea to protect your skin against sun damage, and remain beautiful years after years!

3. Always munching on something
Snacking non-stop can lead to overeating and can further lead to diseases like diabetes. You will lose touch with your actual hunger and gain extra pounds if the food is unhealthy. The solution here is to always eat healthy snacks at times you feel hungry. This way, you can maintain a healthy weight, control cravings and improve nutrition. It is highly recommended to have healthy items like fruits, nuts, vegetables and the likes whenever you feel hungry instead of eating junk food.

4. Overspending
Worries about money can affect your health with issues like insomnia and high blood pressure among many others. Spending endlessly can make you indebted to an unimaginable degree. Getting out of it is very tough and you may have to compromise on your lavish lifestyle. Curbing your spending and leading a simple life can also improve your relationships. Educate yourself with the methods of personal finance management and stop using credit cards as these are real traps. Give priority to things that are important like paying bills and taking care of your family.

5. Drinking alcohol
Too much of alcohol can act as poison to your body. It is found that people who consume two or more drinks a day have increased risks of liver damage, high blood pressure, and depression. Quitting alcohol would definitely boost your standard of life and you will see a visible improvement in your digestion and sleep pattern within a few days of quitting. It is highly recommended to cut down the intake to two drinks per day initially, and gradually lower it even further. To better cope with it, talk to a doctor or take help from a support group.

6. Being stressful always
Being in a low mood always releases stress hormones that could lead to high blood pressure, slow digestion, lower immunity and many other health risks. In this modern world, stress is synonymous to overeating and overweight. It is said that your reaction to triggers determines your stress levels. So next time something bothers you, take the time to process it and stay cool. Learn stress-relief mechanisms like yoga, meditation or anything that keeps you calm. Take each day as it comes and learn to let it go. You can enjoy your favorite hobby and mingle with friends and family to create a positive environment.

7. Smoking cigarettes
You know that cigarettes are harmful to health but, it is natural to stay addicted once you start. Needless to say, smoking can lead to various deadly diseases like lung cancer, mouth cancer, and the likes. This goes without saying that quitting cigarettes is the need of the hour. Quitting smoking will trigger the automatic repair of your lungs and cardiovascular system. You can take medical help to get rid of the addiction or lean on support groups. Further, E-cigarette can help quitting smoking if you want to have quicker results. You may plan to quit when you are calm and not in a stressful period.

8. Too much of fast food
Eating fast foods like burgers followed by sodas regularly can result in excessive weight gain. Fast foods contain Trans fat which increases bad cholesterol which is dangerous for the heart. Switching to healthy food can produce immediate results in your body and mind. Although a healthy diet can be expensive, it is worth all the pain. When hungry, you can visit an eatery that prepares fresh meals with local produce. Or the best option is to prepare healthy meals at home with easy recipes.

9. Overuse of painkillers
Regular use of painkillers and sedatives can cause more problems than they solve. Continuous use of certain drugs can lead to ulcers and even heart attacks. You can prevent the side effects of these by ceasing the intake of these drugs altogether. You will find yourselves happier than before. You can stick to alternate methods like stress relief, exercise and the likes which improve health in course of time and avoid the need for any medication.

10. Overly watching TV
The more time you spend on the couch watching TV, the less is your body getting involved in physical activities. And you tend to eat more without your knowledge. This could invite diseases like diabetes. It is better to restrict TV watching time to a maximum of two hours. Switch on the device only when you want to watch something specific and stop munching while watching TV. The time you save can be used for a healthy exercise regime.

Your Turn
The steps you could take to curb your bad habits are numerous. If you have the heart and patience to change for good, you are in for a joyous ride. Experts say that it is never too late to quit a habit that is not good for your body and mind. The key lies in finding the right approach to detach yourself from all the bad habits.
