7 Ways to Boost Your Immune System and Feel Healthy in the Upcoming Months

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Tired of frequently becoming sick? Wish you could spend more time doing what you love instead of being buried in bed with facial tissue? Here are seven tips that will help strengthen your immune system and leave you feeling great.

1. Get Your Sleep

Before we start taking any herbal drinks or supplements to strengthen your body, we need to look at your sleeping habits. Are you getting 8-hour sleep sessions? Do you browse funny cat videos until the early hours of the morning? If so, stop it! Maybe just one more cute cat picture.

The Mayo Clinic backs us up, too. According to their findings, people who don’t have a regular sleep schedule or those that don’t get adequate amounts of slumber, are more susceptible to viruses and disease.

2. Reduce Alcoholic Beverages

We’re not asking you to quit altogether; having a drink at the pub with your mates is a great way to unwind. Instead, realize that excessive drinking can increase your risk of fatty liver and cause you to become a target for lung infections. The alcohol damages the protective barriers located within the respiratory tract and allows bacteria to grow in these areas. Although you won’t win any social points by not drinking with your lads, at least you won’t be sick!

3. Get Out In the Sun

After a long vacation on the beach, do you notice how good you feel? Sure, it may be because you’ve got a great tan and you were dancing throughout the night, but there’s something more. According to this overly-technical study published by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, vitamin D plays a direct role in our ability to fight off sickness and disease. The study goes on to showcase the power that vitamin D has to fight off the common cold and influenza.learn how to get jiggly butt.

4. Garlic

Garlic not only helps fight off the town vampire, but it also helps keep you healthy, too! Alright, just kidding. Garlic has specific properties that assist our body and immune system to fight off unwanted bacteria and fungus. In fact, many people use topical garlic as a means of removing yeast infections and other fungal growths.

In conjunction with this, garlic works with the immune system in the creation of white blood cells; the cells responsible for fighting off viruses and infections. By eating garlic in healthy amounts, you’ll reduce your odds of becoming sick! Just don’t breathe on anyone.

5. Have No Fear, Kefir Is Here

Kefir is a not-so-known food source that charges your body with protective nutrients and beneficial minerals. One of these attributes — Lactobacillus kefir — acts as a bodyguard within the immune system that tells the bad guys to get out! Lactobacillus kefir has been shown to reduce the risk of Salmonella poisoning, E. coli and other unwanted problems that come about through eating unclean foods. If you want to start adding this product to your diet, buy kefir here.

6. Exercise

Before your brain starts to flood with images of Dorian Yates and Arnold Schwarzenegger, slow down. You don’t need to become the next Mr Universe to begin experiencing the beneficial side effects of lifting heavy iron. Studies suggest that working out in moderation can help the immune system relax and produce white blood cells in abundance. Intense exercise, on the other hand, can cause the opposite effect on the body. Committing to a workout routine that consists of three to four training sessions per week is all you need to feel great and look amazing.

7. Citrus

Adding fruit cocktail in with a mixed drink doesn’t count here! Although, we wish it did. Instead, start by incorporating certain fruits into your diet at regular intervals. These fruits, when consumed on a daily basis, flood your system with vitamin C. Vitamin C also works within the immune system to produce virus-fighting cells that can prevent us from falling ill in the near future. A brief list of fruits that are packed with vitamin C can be found below:

  • Cantaloupe
  • Mango
  • Pineapple
  • Watermelon
  • All berries
