The Medicare version of a Private Option

The main thing to remember is that CMS (the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) is paying/reimbursing companies like Humana, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, and others about 14% more to provide coverage to Medicare recipients than if they stayed with just original Medicare…  In other words, it’s more expensive, and Secure Arkansas believes that Medicaid’s Private Option will be the same.

From an article in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette today regarding the Governors’ Conference in Washington D.C. this weekend: 

“Democrats and Republicans complained about major problems with the Medicaid eligibility data that they are receiving from federal exchanges.  The 36 states in the federal exchange, including Arkansas, have noted often incomplete data with the Medicaid information they are receiving.”  

From the same DemGaz article, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett (R) stated: 

“It still remained unclear, from a fiscal standpoint, if the HealthCare Law would be functioning in two years.  There are a lot more unknowns than there are knowns.”  

Governors across the nation are talking about Medicaid Expansion, ObamaCare, and the Private Option. So are state lawmakers.  Shouldn’t the people from Cabot be outraged about the way their politician has acted regarding the Private Option vote in the House last week?  House Speaker Davy Carter had representatives vote again and again… and AGAIN on legislation, even though the measure had failed.  To make things worse, he called on state police to demand that Representative Payton return to House Chambers to vote on the measure (even though Rep. Payton was having a root canal performed at the time!).  

We’re calling on the good people of Cabot to call House Speaker Davy Carter and request that he cease and desist his strongarm tactics in our Arkansas House of Representatives.   His email address is[email protected] .  His contact number is 501-682-7771.  Take a look at his bio.  He’s on the House Committee for Insurance and Commerce.

Also, Senator Eddie Joe Williams is from Cabot and is a State Chair of ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council).  Again, shouldn’t the constituents of Cabot be questioning their senator about why he voted for the Private Option?  Click on his name.  Look at all the committees on which he’s sitting and in a position to influence.  

We’ve asked you this before:  do you ever wonder where these lawmakers get the money for their campaigns?  It appears that they are financed by big corporations, especially ALEC corporations. 

Do you really think these two lawmakers are working for YOU (their constituents) and are truly interested in upholding our U.S. Constitution?  Or is their loyalty to a larger organization, like the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC)?  

Remember, legislators convene tomorrow morning.  MAKE SURE YOUR VOICE IS HEARD!  You may call the House switchboard at 501-682-6211 and leave a message for your representative to oppose the Private Option.  The switchboard opens at 8:00 a.m.
