Ciudad Juárez—More than four years after being arrested in a federal government operation in Villa Ahumada, the alleged leader of the Juarez Cartel, Jesús Salas Aguayo, “Chuyín”, was released last December 19thfrom the Center for Social Readaptation number 3, located on this border.
The release was confirmed in the State Government.
The FBI identifies “Chuyín” as the “second in command” in the structure of the cartel, while the information of the Anti-Drug Office of the same country (DEA) placed it next to those already detained Carlos Arturo Quintana, “El 80″, and Julio César Olivas, “El Sexto” in the leadership of the organization.
“Salas Aguayo, the supposed second in command at the Juarez Cartel, is the leader and general manager of the cartel on a day-to-day basis. He is also allegedly responsible for ensuring that the cartel’s cocaine and marijuana charges are smuggled into the United States, “says the FBI file.
Salas Aguayo, according to the State Attorney General’s Office, occupied the place in the criminal group in Villa Ahumada the detention of Pedro Sánchez Arras, aka “El Tigre”, who was arrested in 2008 and whose extradition to the United States was reported on Last Monday, January 13, by the Attorney General’s Office.

After being consigned by the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic, the official documentation indicates that, on April 24, he received a formal prison car for crimes against health, organized crime and possession of a firearm and cartridges for the exclusive use of the Army Mexican dictated by the Sixth District Court of Federal Criminal Proceedings in the State of Mexico, based in Toluca.
Since then he remained at the Federal Center for Social Readaptation Number One “Altiplano”, located in the municipality of Almoloya, in the state of Mexico.
Unofficial data add that in 2018 he was transferred to the Social Readaptation Center number 3, located on this border, after the filing of various amparos.
The release, indicate separately the data obtained in the state government, was issued by a court of the Judicial Branch of the Federation.
Information from the State Attorney General’s Office adds that the Juarez Cartel – to which the data of the state public ministry is also referred to as La Línea – has a presence in various municipalities of the entity, such as the borders of Juárez, Janos and Ojinaga, in addition to Galeana, Casas Grandes, Buenaventura and Nuevo Casas Grandes, as well as Aldama and Coyame, among others.
For the United States, it adds information from the DEA updated until 2018, the Juarez Cartel remains one of the most important Mexican illicit organizations, with operations historically located between Chihuahua, southwest Texas and New Mexico.
“The Juarez cartel traffics several hundred kilos of cocaine and amounts of several tons of marijuana monthly through the El Paso-Juárez area and the rural regions west of Palomas and east of Ojinaga, in the state of Chihuahua” , indicates a DEA report.
