New York-based startup Movable Ink is helping businesses revolutionize the way we engage emails—in other words, making emails not so “email-sy.”

“Change. Innovation. Everyone talks about it. The web is fueled by it. While people pay attention to only 7 websites a day, they read 75 emails. Email is one of the most engaging communication platforms that has ever existed. Then why is it so constrained? We believe email can delight, compel, and engage. It is our mission to broaden the possibilities in the way we communicate.”

This is important. While many of us receive 75 emails a day, I’d guess that most of us send about 60 of them directly to the trash bin without ever really reading them.

Movable Ink is helping breath life into email marketing campaigns by integrating real time and relevant information into emails.

For example, you can insert a countdown clock into emails to specify how long a special offer may last, or insert live tweets into your email by syncing with your twitter account.

The company operates by allowing the business to add a variety of different applications (apps) within the email to allow users to customize what sort of unique and real-time information they’d like in their campaigns, and how it is designed.

Its pricing structure is a three-tiered offering, ranging from a free service offering basic apps, a pay-as-you-go plan, and a premium service at $49 per month that offers a full gamut of different techniques to customize your campaign.

In addition to cool interactive features, such as being able to show geo-located content depending on where emails are opened (which is brilliant with the reliance of email on smartphones) or embedding real-time conversations about specific products, publishers can also launch A/B testing to see which messages drive engagement, and update accordingly on the fly with access to a dashboard to help build and control their campaigns.

Success stories claim increases in click through rates as high as 122 percent. However, where I think Movable Ink really delivers is in its beautiful design work, making emails interesting not only through awesome content, but through an aesthetically engaging and clean look.

Pretty cool stuff.

Since consumers today are becoming increasingly expectant of relevant information (or just less tolerant of lagging information), Movable Ink seems to be innovating in the email space that has remained stagnant for several years.
