ISIS Recruit Arrested in Minnesota

In Minnesota, a court hearing in the case of a teenager accused of planning to go to Syria to join forces with the Islamic State. Authorities say another Minnesota man actually did go over there, and didn’t return home as schedule. US officials are trying to track homegrown terrorists. The FBI has launched an intensive campaign to block Americans trying trying to join ISIS, stopping 12 people headed to Iraq or Syria this year alone. In this latest case, two young men from Minneapolis, ages 18 and 20, were charged with trying to travel to Syria to engage in a campaign of terror. The 18 year old was detained at the Minneapolis airport, and kept under surveillance until he was arrested. The man who drove him to the airport took some time to identify. By the time the FBI figured out who he was, they discovered he was already in Syria, fighting with ISIS. Authorities say the parents of the 18-year-old had no idea of his plans to head overseas.
