DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. October 3, 2016, 1:22 PM (IDT)

Sources close to the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence announced n Tehran that special operations forces operating in the western town of Kermanshah had broken up an ISIS terrorist cell. Among the dead was the self-styled “Iranian Emir of ISIS.” The sources did not name him, but local sources in Kermanshah identified him by his nickname of Abu Ayesheh. DEBKAfile’s counterterrorism experts note that this was Tehran’s first admission that ISIS had any presence at all in Iran. The battle against the western Islamist cell, they report, was launched on Aug. 16.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
