DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. October 20, 2016, 8:19 AM (IDT)

North Korea launched an intermediate-range Musudan ballistic missile from a site in the western city of Kusong on Thursday. However, according to American and South Korean military sources, the weapon crashed immediately after lifting off. The failed launch came hours after Washington and Seoul announced that they had agreed on joint steps against Pyongyang’s missile and nuclear programs. The Musudan has a range of about 3,000 kilometers.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
