(Before It's News)

DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. October 5, 2016, 5:23 PM (IDT)

Radio contact was lost on Wednesday afternoon with the Zaytouna-Oliva, a Spanish ship that sailed from Barcelona with a goal of reaching the Gazan coast to protest the Israeli blockade. Thirteen women including parliamentarians from New Zealand, Sweden and Algeria, a doctor from Malaysia and a fomer officer in the US military are aboard the vessel. The loss of contact with the ship, now located about 100 kilometers from the Israeli coast, apparently indicates that its radio and satellite communication systems are being blocked ahead of the takeover of the ship by Israeli naval commandos. The ship will be towed to the port of Ashdod and its passengers will be deported from Israel when the operation is over.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
