DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. November 29, 2016, 9:51 PM (IDT)

Connections with two Turkish soldiers deployed in Syria as a part of the ongoing Euphrates Shield Operation (Turkish invasion of northern Syria) have been lost, the Turkish Armed Forces announced late Tuesday.

As a search was launched for the missing men, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım was informed of the situation by the Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar. It was reported earlier that ISIS had captured the soldiers outside the Syrian town of Al-Bab, 45km from the Turkish border.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
