DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. November 30, 2016, 5:51 PM (IDT)

The UN Security Council on Wednesday slapped a series of fresh sanctions on North Korea following the large-scale nuclear test that Pyongyang conducted in September. The sanctions including the slashing of the North’s annual export revenue by 25 percent were approved by all 15 members of the council. North Korea’s coal exports are now capped by 60 percent and its overseas shipments of copper, nickel, silver and zinc are banned.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
