DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. January 10, 2017, 6:04 PM (IDT)

At least 38 people were killed and 80 wounded in twin bombings during rush hour Tuesday outside the Afghan parliament in Kabul. Most of the victims were civilians including parliament staff. A Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility, saying members of the Afghan intelligence agency were targeted. Afghan sources said a district head of the National Directorate of Security – Afghanistan’s main intelligence agency – was among the dead. Reports spoke of a suicide bomber on foot followed by a car bomb.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
