DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. January 12, 2017, 1:09 PM (IDT)

American planes conducting intelligence-gathering missions over northern Syria started transferring real-time data on the movements of Islamic State fighters in the area of the city of Al-Bab to the Turkish military on Thursday. It followed weeks of diplomatic and military negotiations by the two sides in Ankara and Washington. Negotiatiors continue to discuss the possible provision of American weaponry and advisors. Turkey’s forces have been fighting the terrorist organization’s forces in the Al-Bab area for months.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
