DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. February 27, 2017, 9:02 AM (IDT)

State Councilor Yang Jiechi, former foreign minister and ambassador to the US, is the first senior Chinese official to visit Washington since President Donald Trump took office, amid uncertainty about relations and security tensions in eastern Asira. He arrived in Washington Monday for two days to “exchange views on bilateral ties and issues of mutual concern” with high-ranking US officials. Last week, Premier Li Keqiang expressed hope that disputes with Trump’s government could be settled amicably, saying that a trade war would “benefit nobody.”

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
