DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. March 7, 2017, 10:10 AM (IDT)

Two of the seven terrorists arrested in Malaysia last month were planning a large-scale attack on Saudi King Salman’s entourage during the royal visit to Kuala Lumpur on Feb. 26. They had prepared a “vehicle-borne improvised explosive device,” said police chief Khalid Abu Bakr Monday. The conspirators arrested “in the nick of time” were one Malaysian, one Indonesian, four Yemenis and one East Asian – all with alleged links to the Islamic State. King Salman on a month-long tour of the Far East also found the Indonesian capital of Jakarta on high terror alert.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
