DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. June 18, 2017, 12:53 PM (IDT)

Taliban claimed the Sunday attack on eastern Afghanistan at police headquarters in Gardez City, capital of the eastern Paktia province, by five suicide bombers.  After the first detonated a car bomb at the gate, four attackers stormed through. Two were killed by police, the others fought with Afghan special forces. The official toll is 2 police officers killed and five wounded, but doctors at the city hospital counted the bodies of at least five police and 30 people injured.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
