[Column] For the students dreaming of going to Japan

A lot of young students dream of going to Japan.

Adults also dream of going to Japan.

I can’t stop them. I don’t have such a right.

but I want them to know the risks that nobody would tell them.

I think the biggest risk is food.

You can’t live without eating anything.

All around in Japan, more and more products are distributing from Fukushima.

They say they check radiation.

but they only check a few kinds of radiative material among tens of nuclides.

It’s not only food, but also rain and soil.

Contaminated water is cluelessly leaking to the Pacific.

It comes back in rain, and it never be tested.

You will see nothing “dangerous” in Japan. Everyone lives as if nothing was going on. Radiation has nothing to do with the taste or color.

but you need to be aware that you are risking your own health in the future.

Nobody knows when. It might be tomorrow or in 30 years.

You suddenly realize it in the morning, and no one would compensate you.

It would be too late then. You can’t get back to the past to stop yourself going to Japan.

If you still think it’s worth, just go.

About half of them who attack me are non-Japanese citizens living in Japan.

They have been in Japan since before 311 and tackling their dreams.

Some of them have spent too long to go back. Some of them have already bought a house for the huge mortgage.

For them, 311 wasn’t a disaster but I am the disaster. They think I’m making the situation worse.

You can deny me thousand times but nothing would change.

They love Japan for the high quality of social service.

Train comes on time. Car runs.

I’m proud of it. It owes the strenuous (sometimes insane) efforts of the engineers.

I admire them and I want to be like them.

Since 311, Japan is destroying its own credibility that has taken centuries to build.

For example, the government said melt down was not happening.

It was a lie.

For example, Abe said contaminated water is entirely blockaded within the port.

It was a lie.

Samurai is a favorite character outside of Japan.

“Samurai” put the highest value on “decisiveness”.

The reality is far from there.

As its morality says, Japan shall admit everything and disclose everything they know.
