New Arms Race, Political Class vs Private Class

In today’s war between the Political Class and the Private Class, the arms race is about surveillance.

From Dateline Zero -  Drones are not only being used by the U.S. military in Yemen. They are a regular part of the police surveillance in England, and could be also used routinely in the U.S., as well.

However, because we live in an age of accessible technology, liberty activists might soon be including drones among an arsenal of “Little Brother” tools. This is a tool bag that already includes small remotely operated cameras, camera phones, and other assorted electronic bugs.

The modern arms race.

Here in the U.S., courts are ruling that the government can use devices to monitor and follow anyone for any reason. Devices are now being planted on people’s cars by police officers. Cameras are being used to watch children both at school and at home. Some children are even greeted at the school bus with a government employee who affixes a tracking device to each child.

Thankfully, this is not going unchallenged. The fact that much of this went through the court system at all is a sign that the government has to take some time to make this all appear somehow legitimate. (We The People shouldn’t be surprised that the government court system tends to rule in favor of the government.)

There is something of a new revolution being fought in the United States today. While some people choose to try and use the system to fight the system – others are quickly becoming very involved revolutionary war that has seen the beginning of modern arms race.

Yes, Little Brother is watching back.

Because of this new arms race, police officers are starting to hate YouTube. Politicians have to remind themselves that people carry phones with cameras. Someone needs to remind their personal security folks about this fact, too.

When government efforts to impose surveillance upon We The People are not thwarted, other means can be — and have been — used. In Arizona, for example, a highway ticketing system using street cameras was abandoned after many people refused to pay the traffic fines, and activists began going around and vandalising the cameras. The government didn’t have enough money coming in to justify the added clean-up and maintenance of the cameras.

However, the new arms race is soon going to an expanded potential arsenal. Companies that manufacture drones are hoping to sell these devices to the general public. The size, pricae, and overall efficiency of the devices make them available to practically anybody.
