Looking out upon the current political atmosphere, it is not difficult to see why so many Americans are disillusioned with the political process. College students are not exempt from this and, in many cases, make up a majority of those who look at our democracy with jaded expressions and skeptic minds.

At Saginaw Valley, I stood somewhere outside the dichotomy that so often leaves many voters feeling unsatisfied. I offered a place to stand that many forget exists and asked them “What if?”

What if there was a way out between the rock and the hard place?

The recruitment drive was a success, with a surprising amount of people wanting to talk about and, perhaps more importantly, listen to what I had to say. Some disagreed, but many found a new avenue to research and consider. With the political climate the way it is, students were eager to inspect a new ideology that freed them from the rehashing of old gripes that so many political science students (and those from other majors as well) hear day to day.

Now, here’s to hoping they buckle down and join the movement!
