(Before It's News)

Today, the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation held a nomination hearing for President-elect Donald Trump’s Secretary of the Department of Transportation nominee, Elaine Chao. Competitive Enterprise Institute senior fellow and transportation policy expert Marc Scribner gave the following statement in support of Chao’s nomination:

“Unlike the previous administration’s secretaries of transportation, Elaine Chao refreshingly brings Department of Transportation experience to the table. Having served at the U.S. Department of Transportation in two previous administrations, and as Secretary of Labor in another, Ms. Chao is more than qualified to lead the DOT in the years ahead,” said Scribner. “CEI would like to see her bring this knowledge and experience to bear on pressing transportation issues, such as air traffic control modernization, infrastructure financing reforms, automated and connected vehicle policy, and the integration of unmanned aircraft systems into our national airspace.”
