The spring semester has seem tremendous growth and development of our YAL chapter here at Humboldt State University. We’ve been very active on campus, tabling almost every week and by having some really interesting events. First we aided the Fight for Free Speech campaign by going out on campus and having some substantial discussions with students about the importance of free speech in academia. Our next event was The Great Debate, which we participated in with the College Democrats, College Republicans and College Greens. We held firm by our principles as we took on the statist arguments. We plan to continue our fight for free speech on campus by getting another free speech ball to roll out on campus multiple times before the semester ends, along with our Ax the Tax event which will be a great event for us and other students to learn about our broken and overgrown tax code. We’ve come so far at HSU, but there’s still much work to be done advancing the ideas of liberty on campus, and we’ll be there every step of the way.
