For the last two days, the Israeli media did not stop talking about Hamas readiness in Gaza to face another possible war by Israel on the people who are still recovering from the former rounds of violence that destroyed their houses and economy. According to Yadeot Ahronot, a high official in the Israeli army said that Hamas is ready after a year and a half for a new round of war if it starts assuring that Hamas rebuilt its tunnels and increased its missiles abilities. Same Official said that Hamas is not interested in a new war with Israel while it continues to prevent the extreme organizations working within Gaza from firing any missiles towards Israel. The Israeli army has been holding wide trainings on the borders with Gaza simulating the breaking of huge numbers of Palestinian fighters into the Israeli borders.
Hamas did not issue any statement or make any reaction to the Israeli Media campaign that was started by the Israeli army that seems to be looking for any kind of reaction to get more information about the situation within Gaza. Such attempts and games of launching Media campaigns have been witnessed in the past before former wars that started and resulted in killing of hundreds of civilians. Usually Israel prefers to start preparing the International society and its public opinion for any military campaign it is preparing to start against Palestinians. The trigger for such a campaign would be a small incident that is started on the borders or a possible assassination of a Palestinian active within the armed movements working within Gaza.
Not surprisingly, the Israeli leadership both political and military did not learn from former rounds of violence with the Palestinians in Gaza. In fact, the Israeli official statement that Hamas is ready for another round of war proves that using force and war against Palestinians did not succeed in disarming the Palestinian movements or changing anything on the borders with Gaza. The opposite is what happens always while Israel continues to choose the use of its “Deterrence Power” as an option to start new wars every year or two in order to demolish Palestinian capabilities only for a short term before the whole situation explodes again. The Israeli political leadership is far away from any reality that within it a political solution would be reached in order to prevent the unstoppable violent events that are taking place through the West Bank and on the borders with Gaza. Settlers are encouraged to seize more Palestinian houses such as in Hebron yesterday and Israeli officials such as Yalon are proudly stating that more than 400 thousand settlers are living in the West Bank while insisting that Israel does not care for what the West would say about that.
As we always saw, the lack of political movement between both sides have always lead us to new rounds of violence that the latter has almost got out of control in the West Bank. The language of violence that Israel has been using since 2001 with the Palestinians proved its failure one time after the other while the Palestinians are rising against their own leadership that since 2005 did everything that was requested from them according to the road map and other summits that tried to control the exploding situation. The question remains open for the Israeli Prime Minister who is living as the one man and only leader within Israel and playing smartly according to his belief that the Palestinians can be administrated and the conflict can be controlled without giving any rights to the Palestinian people.
