Central bank governors from Russia, Asian and Balkan countries accepted the
invitation from the Governor of the Bank of Israel and arrived in Jerusalem
for an international conference of central banks

The Bank of Israel today is hosting for the first time the international
conference of central banks belonging to the Central Bank Governors’ Club of
Central Asia, the Black Sea Region and Balkan Countries, after group
members, who meet every half-year in a different country, responded in the
affirmative to the invitation from the Governor of the Bank of Israel, Dr.
Karnit Flug, to hold the conference in Jerusalem.

Governor of the Bank of Israel Dr. Karnit Flug said, “The Israeli economy is
impacted by the global economy, and there is utmost importance to
international cooperation and professional conversation. I am happy at the
broad response of colleagues from 18 countries to visit Israel, and for the
opportunity to present to our guests outstanding examples of the
technological innovation for which Israel’s economy is known. We derive
great benefit from our close working relationships with central banks
worldwide and view the high professional regard of Israel’s economy as an
important asset.”

The conference will be opened by the Governor of the Bank of Israel, and the
other central bank governors will present the economic developments in their

presented the challenges of economic policy in Russia to Bank of Israel
staff), the Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Armenia, Bosnia and
Herzegovina, Croatia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, and Albania. In
addition, deputy Governors or senior officials from China, Turkey, Greece,
