Five police conscripts killed in militant attack in Egypt’s North Sinai

Five police conscripts were killed when militants held up their vehicle
in Egypt’s North Sinai city of Arish on Saturday evening, Al-Ahram Arabic
website reported.

Security sources told Al-Ahram news website that militants ambushed the car
transporting the conscripts to the Arish airport.

They released the driver and shot the conscripts, Al-Ahram said.

Egypt has seen a spike in militant activity since the 2013 ouster of
Islamist president Mohamed Morsi. Hundreds of security forces in North Sinai
have been killed in similar attacks by Islamic militants in the past three
