Saudi Arabia to increase Jordan’s pilgrims quota by 20 percent

Amman, Jan. 12 (Petra)–Saudi Arabia has increased by 20 percent the number
of Jordanian pilgrims who will be allowed to perform Hajj ((the greater
Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca) in the coming pilgrimage season, according to
Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Wael Arabiyat.

The decision followed a working visit by the minister to Saudi Arabia where
he discussed means to boost cooperation between the two countries in issues
related to pilgrimage.

In a press statement on Thursday, Arabiyat stressed the importance of
changing the location of Jordanians’ camp in Mina to a better place, adding
that the Saudi side promised to study the issue.
