Christian Bale Expected to Be the Next Moses

Deadline Hollywood is reporting director Ridley Scott and Fox want ex-Batman Christian Bale to play Moses in a new movie called Exodus.  But unlike the actual Ten Commandments, the decision is not yet engraved in stone. The Internet Movie Database acknowledges the movie is in development, but otherwise is not releasing information on its free service for the general public.

Fox is not the only studio with plans for a movie based on the life of Moses.  Warner Brothers is planning Gods and Kings, which recently lost director Steven Spielberg.  

There’s speculation the ratings success of the History Channel’s The Bible miniseries may be encouraging production of Exodus, however Scott announced his new project months before the debut of the TV show.

Christian Bale would not be the first ex-Batman to play Moses. Val Kilmer voiced the role in 1998′s The Prince of Egypt cartoon.  Bale gained new respect from Christian conservatives last October when he publicly criticized China’s forced abortion/one-child policy.
